MIMIC — Privacy Policy
Effective July 9, 2026 · Last updated July 11, 2026
MIMIC is built so that we know nothing about you. This policy is short because there is almost nothing to disclose.
Data we collect
None. MIMIC does not collect, store, transmit, or sell any personal data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising SDKs, and no servers receiving your information.
Face data (TrueDepth camera & ARKit)
- What is processed: MIMIC uses the front TrueDepth camera with Apple's on-device ARKit face tracking to read real-time facial expression values ("blendshapes") and to show you the live camera preview.
- Purpose: this information is used for a single purpose — calculating, on your device, a 0–100 score for how closely your expression matches the day's emoji. It is never used for identification, authentication, analytics, advertising, or profiling.
- Storage & retention: face data is processed in your iPhone's memory frame-by-frame and immediately discarded. It is never written to disk, never uploaded, and never leaves your device. MIMIC has no server.
- Photos: snapshots captured for your results strip are held in memory only and are discarded when the app closes. A photo leaves your phone only if you explicitly share or save it yourself using the iOS share sheet — and then it goes only where you send it.
- Sharing & disclosure: face data is never shared with, sold to, or disclosed to any third party — or to us. The app contains no third-party SDKs, no analytics, and no ads.
- Deletion: because no face data is retained, there is nothing to delete. Deleting the app removes all locally stored game data (scores and streaks), which contains no face data.
Game data
Your scores, streaks, and settings are stored locally on your device. Deleting the app deletes them.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, MIMIC schedules a daily reminder locally on your device. No push servers are involved.
Children
MIMIC does not collect data from anyone, including children.
Changes
If a future version ever changes any of the above (for example, adding optional analytics or ads), this policy will be updated first and the change will be clearly disclosed in the app's App Store listing.
